Snowflake

I enjoy the crispness of winter in Canberra and wanted to create something that reflected not only the cold but the beauty of the season. With family symbolised at the centre of the snowflake, Winter is season that we spend a lot of time together indoors.

Although we rarely get snow, waking up in the mornings and finding icicles frozen in the backyard sparks such magic and curiosity that I find so hard to describe. The cracks throughout the painting are intentional. They show a contrast between the beauty of the things that only last for such a short time, then crack and melt away and the sharp, dense and relentless freeze that winter brings to this country.
